Ours was a big family- aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who lived in the same neighborhood. The heart of the family was the central kitchen. Our grandma always insisted that the family should get together for as many dinners as possible. Food is to be shared was her simple rule. So she maintained a fat, scrappy old book with all the recipes that she had learned from her mother and mother-in-law and over the years kept adding to it with her own successful experiments from the kitchen. Every new bride who entered the family added her recipes to this Master Copy. The first errors made by me in the kitchen and my first great success have also been duly documented. And I’d like to share it here… after all, to quote my favorite person, Food is to be shared...
